I’m going to be using the daily pressure of Camp NaNoWriMo to get the first draft of Book 1 done. For the first novella in my Shield Colony trilogy, I’m interested in drafting as fast and clean as possible. I have a rough idea of the overall story and a slightly closer idea of what’s happening in Book 1, but these characters have been loitering in my head for a while, so I’m going to let them decide how the story goes.
This should be a lot of fun.
Today I got 520 words written before 6:30 a.m. Nice!
But I always start strong. The key will be keeping that up and moving forward. I know that the second and third book ideas will take shape as I fill out this first story, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I’ve got a file just for “Stuff for the next book” that I’ll dump into and get back to drafting.
Wish me luck in being consistent.
